Differentiation Print

'Differentiation' is a term taken from educational theory. It describes a flexible approach to teaching students. It optimises learning for all students by allowing for individual differences in learning style, interest, motivation, and aptitude. In fundraising terms, the differentiated approach depends upon this same flexibility in speaking to a potential supporter.

Our fundraisers do not work to a script as this undermines the spontaneity and depth of rapport of each encounter. Our training is more intensive and takes longer than a scripted approach. The reward is in job satisfaction, which is increased enormously as the fundraisers’ skills and creativity are constantly brought into play.

The process is relaxed, respectful and non invasive. It requires intelligence, assertiveness, commitment and self-awareness on the part of the practitioner. Our training helps fundraisers to develop these attributes.

Because of this, potential supporters feel respected rather than 'used’, and a much closer affinity to the charity. When people feel free to choose, and that their gifts are much needed, they are more likely to be generous and committed towards the charity.
